Contemporary Cognitive Neuroscience :Brain and Mind

Professor Dr. Chiao.

It’s my honor to enroll the general education class while Dr. Chiao’s class is always so popular.

The theme that made me great deep impression was the ‘’Awake Craniotomy’’ surgery. I have watched a Korea drama called ‘’Doctors’’, the surgeon had performed an awake craniotomy in a Olympic player’s brain. They test her nerves’ condition awaken of controlling the muscle of hands in order to check whether the surgery is successful. Until I listened Dr, Chiao’s class, in dawned on me that the surgery is performable in the reality.

Furthermore, the main topic of the class: Brain and Mind, is talking about the connection between our brain and mind. Is it possible that we are not who we are when we have the brain which is not belong to us? It recalled me a book, Hensin, which I have read that was written by Higashino Keigo. It told a male tha this right brain was shoot by the criminal, however, in order to save his life, doctors transplanted the criminal’s brain to his. While he found he was not like who he was before after the surgery.

Maybe after I finish Dr.Chiao’s classes, I can understand more knowledge about human’s brain.
