Growth and Neuroplasticity

Professor Chiao

I want to share my experience of learning music since I was 3. And until 10 I simultaneously learned flute and piano. During the period of learning instruments, I have been in a same difficulty that I have felt suffering when practicing, and once refused to go to the class. However, my mom always stayed beside me without any punishment or blame, she only sat near me and accompanied me to solve problems by myself. Accordingly, I got the ability to go through barriers of school works, extra curriculums and others problems in life by conquering those difficulties in music. The ability made me gain different traits among peers.

Consequently, like the teacher said, the prefrontal lobes of humans grow slower than other parts in the brain, that is, the younger the learners are, the braver they are willing to challenge the difficulties without blocked by the limits of time, physical reasons or other reality conditions.
